Do I need Film School Online!?

This is an exciting time in the media arts. Home theaters, personal computers, cable, satellite TV, and Internet streaming are creating a huge demand for product. To meet this growth, movies are taking many forms, ranging from traditional narratives and documentaries, to music videos and infomercials, to interactive computer games with multiple story paths.

New technology is changing the way movies are being made, too. For many  years, film was the only viable medium for cinematic storytelling, but today video and digital technologies are powerful options. With their unparalleled speed, cost-effectiveness, and creative opportunities, they are being used as both an alternative and supplement to film.  It is not uncommon to see all three media together in the same project.

Digital technology has not only changed the way movies are made, it has democratized the industry.  It's now possible to buy a broadcast quality DV camera and editing system for less than $3,000.  This accessibility was impossible just a few years ago.

This bustle has attracted a great deal of interest to the field. Years ago you could break into movies through sheer talent and determination, but that's not the case today. Since the field is so complex, a solid base of knowledge is needed before you can become productive. Do you have this foundation? To get an idea, take The Filmmaker's Challenge.
